Christmas with the Family

After opening Santa gifts & playing for a while, we headed over to Aunt Lulie's to open gifts with Julie, Aaron, Jamie, Bill, Will & Alex. Once again, everyone had a great time!

Merry Christmas

Christmas Eve

After Church on Christmas Eve, we stopped by Aunt Lulie's for a quick visit with Aunt Lulie, Uncle Aaron, Evelyn, Mr & Mrs Stubblefield. The kids got to open their gifts from Evelyn & the Stubblefields - Kenleigh wanted to open more!

December 2008, Part 2

Dusty & I took Colton & Kenleigh down to Church Street United Methodist Church last Sunday to the Walk-Through Bethlehem. We have never gone before, but since Kenleigh is really into the Christmas Story this year we thought it would be fun. We walked through & there were tables set up with items that would have been found in Bethlehem when Jesus was born - women weaving baskets by hand, a medicine shop with herbal remedies, a potter (where the kids got to make a clay Star of David), a leatherman making sandals. We saw the Three Wise Men carrying their gifts. The highlight for Kenleigh was seeing Joseph, Mary & Baby Jesus in the stable. Outside, we saw the animals - camels, donkies, sheep - & the Angel.

Yesterday, we made the 3rd Annual visit to see Santa & the reindeer at Dale's Winning Edge. This year there were three reindeer - the big one was Blitzen. The elf said Rudolph had to stay back at the North Pole to rest up for the long trip on Christmas Eve.

I've let the blog get behind! Here are a few things we've been doing this month.

Colton got a Jesse tree at Church as an Advent activity for the season. Each Sunday, he gets Shrinky Dinks ornaments - one for each day of the following week. There is a daily devotional that goes with each one. We are supposed to read the devotional & hang the ornament for the night.

The after-shot

We were so excited to have Uncle Richard visit from Texas. He hadn't been here since Julie's wedding in August 2007 & we had been begging him to come for months! He was here to spend Thanksgiving with us & stayed for over two weeks - we miss him & are ready for him to come back. While he was here, we met him, Julie & Aaron downtown. We walked through Mast General Store then walked around Market Square.

Fulmer's Last Game

Colton & Mommy braved the rain & cold & went to the TN-Kentucky game on Saturday. At halftime, we went over to sit with Julie, Aaron, Bill & Will.

It was Phillip Fulmer's last game as UT's head coach. It's a little bittersweet to me - Fulmer has been the coach since I was going to games as a UT undergrad. I was in Graduate School 1998-1999 during the Perfect Season - I went to the SEC Championship & National Championship games. But I know all good things must come to an end. Hopefully Lane Kiffin will bring the TN Vols back to where they should be.

Our new coach will be Lane Kiffin. After hearing him speak, I'm beginning to see why he was hired. Hopefully he will do a good job continuing the strong traditions of University of Tennessee football. Here is the link to the press conference yesterday announcing Kiffin as the new coach.
